Stefan Birtalan

Stefan Birtalan hørte til den stjernerække af
rumænske håndboldspillere, der førte landet forrest fra midt-60erne til
midt-70erne. Professor Kunst og den arrogante nationaltræner Nicolae Nedef stod
i spidsen for en sjælden samling talenter gennem næsten 10 år. Holdene var
fysisk stærke og der blev set en række taktiske nyskabelser, især det berørmte
6-0 forsvar.
Storskytter som Gruia og Moser blev frygtede og verdenskendte.
Den bedste var dog Stefan Birtalan, som jeg endnu husker fra
TV.

the Romanian National Handballteam.
Professor Kunst and the teamchef
Nicolae Nedef were the behind-masters with a fantastic physical-minded play on
the pitch. The tactical renewel was for example the later well-known 6-0 defence
formation. - There were many great shooters at that teams like Moser and Gruia.
Among all I believe that Stefan Birtalan was the very best. I can still recall
him from TV. - By the way I have tried - in vaine - to retrieve more information
from the Romanian Handball Association.
