Mary Robinson, f. 1944 - irsk præsident 1990-1997, herefter FNs højkommissær for menneskerettigheder til sept. 2002. Hendes juridiske baggrund dækker over et professorat ( 25 år gammel !) ved Trinity College, Dublin. Hun har 20 års erfaring som senator i Eire. Mary Robinson var kraftig medvirkende til den aktive politiske, økonomiske og kulturelle åbning og udvidelse med verden.
